Welcome to Our Corner of the 'Verse

An active Firefly-fan community since 2002, the Seattle Browncoats are one of the oldest and largest (still) active "flan" groups in the Verse. Although they have migrated to other boards and are currently most active on their dedicated meetup.com site, their Seattle Shindigs thread on the "OB" (original Fox message board) remains legendary.

Where To Find Us

Events and meetups happen almost weekly, generally held at the "Browncoat Haven", our own little corner of the Verse, Wayward Coffeehouse (8570 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103). Even if an "official" event isn't happening, you're sure to find a fellow 'Coat there who will be more than happy to chat about all things Firefly.

This is What We Do, Darlin'

The Seattle Browncoats are a friendly and welcoming group of folk, if we do say so our ownselves.

Fellow 'Coats set-up and participate in Role Playing games (based on the Verse); meet up regularly to socialize (and play Mexican Train Dominoes); hold impromptu Firefly-quoting showdowns; attend local as well as far-flung Sci-fi conventions to "get out the signal" and recruit new Browncoats; and, of course, organize the annual CSTS - Serenity Forever/Equality Now charity event.

We attend filk concerts, have picnics, watch episodes at house parties, participate in Geek Trivia, watch movies together on First Friday Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film Night, post comments and related/interesting events on our meetup.com board, support each other's endeavors, and generally have a shiny time whenever we chance to cross paths with another Browncoat.

Filk, an Esssential Part of Fandom

At Wayward Coffeehouse, your fellow 'Coats have been entertained by the Bedlam Bards, Vixy & Tony (Michelle Dockrey and Tony Fabris), and a host of other filkers who have shared their Firefly- and other genre-inspired songs to rousing approval and much singing-along. You are apt to hear such favorites such as  "The Hero of Canton" and "Mal's Song".

Filk Open Jam.
On Saturday, November 24, 2007, we held the first ever Filk Open Jam,  an open mic filk session where we welcomed all filkers to perform their genre-inspired songs to a more than appreciative audience at our favorite Browncoat Haven, Wayward Coffeehouse.
